HERBAL MEDICINE CONSULTATIONS AT GINKGO

At GINKGO our aim is to empower our patients to take control of their health and wellbeing. Whether coming to us with longstanding health concerns, an acute condition or simply wanting to achieve and maintain optimal health, we take the time to fully explore, understand and address the root cause of our patients's health concerns, rather than simply treating their outward symptoms.

Here at GINKGO we do not believe in a 'one size fits all' (or even 'one pill fits all') approach to healthcare We develop bespoke treatment and management plans for each of our patients. We utilise the powerful innate healing properties of plant-based medicines alongside the addressing of any dietary or lifestyle factors that may be contributing to our patients' health concerns.

Your first consultation with our medical herbalist will usually last between 60 and 90 minutes, during which time she will build up a detailed picture of your health by:

  • Taking your full case history, including your past medical history.

  • Finding out about any medication or supplements you use

  • Discussing your diet and lifestyle

  • Conducting any clinical examinations that may be required such as taking your blood pressure, listening to your lungs or examining a painful joint

This enables the herbalist to get a detailed picture of your health and develop a management and treatment plan tailored to your unique requirements. Herbal medicine can then be prescribed and may take the form of high quality tinctures, teas, creams, ointments or capsules. Where appropriate, any relevant dietary or lifestyle advice may be given.

After the initial consultation, follow up consultations are much shorter, usually no more than 30 minutes in length and are used to discuss your progress and, where necessary, make any adjustments to your herbal prescription.
